Beryl is excited to announce Group Rides are now live in Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole and Canterbury! with the feature set to roll out across more Beryl schemes soon.
For the first time, one person can unlock bikes for up to 2 additional riders, so friends and family can join in without needing their own Beryl account or the app.
Ready to make the most of it? Here are five end-of-summer plans worth rounding up the group chat for.
1. The last ice cream mission
An end-of-summer-bucket-list should absolutely include a trip to the nearest ice-cream shop or van before eating outside feels more like a challenge than an enjoyment.
A refreshment stop is always one of the best parts of a journey, include it either half-way into a ride to take a pause or as a post-pedal reward.
And if you plot a route ahead of time, then all you need to worry about is choosing between salted caramel or mint chocolate.
2. Catch a late summer sunset or sunrise
One perk of shorter days is that sunrises and sunsets return to more sociable hours, so no need for a 5 am alarm or staying out super late.
Did you know that as the sun sits lower in the sky, its light travels further through the atmosphere, creating more of those spectacular red, orange and pink hues? So if late-summer sunsets seem more intense, you’re not imagining it.
Grab the opportunity to catch these moments with friends, before the dark starts book-ending the working day again.
3. Get sporty in the park
Finally the high temperatures are starting to decline and we can remember what a crisp in the air and wearing layers feels like.
Take this as a cue to plan a mini sports day at the park whilst we’re in the soft spot between being sweaty and freezing. A little 5 aside game of football, a frisbee circle, a game of rounders. Something low-effort and maximum fun.
Challenge everyone to travel together and try to keep the competitiveness at bay until the games kick-off. Earn extra friends brownie points for making the plans AND bringing post-game snacks.
4. Get seasonal
Now that most of our scheduled summer holidays are over, organised local events are a great way to squeeze the last bit of summer before we all collectively hibernate.
Early autumn offers some great seasonal activities to get stuck into. Check out your local council calendar for events happening nearby, from food markets, live music, harvest fairs, foraging walks to star gazing and open air cinemas, the list goes on depending on your levels of adventure!
Travel together and make the journey there and back part of the fun.
5. Be a tourist for the day
It’s easy to take your everyday surroundings for granted. Pick one local attraction you've never visited, one viewpoint you've never stopped at or one bit of town you've neglected recently. Get the group together and go.
Make it extra fun and travel together as a group and bring the tourist vibes. Think backpacks, paper maps and cameras to really feel like intrepid explorers.
