Active Travel on Prescription: Making Movement More Accessible

Helping people across the UK access active travel and improve their wellbeing through social prescription.

About the project

In summer 2024, Beryl partnered with local health and wellbeing teams to launch Social Prescription in Plymouth and Cornwall - an initiative providing free access to Beryl e-bikes for users referred through social prescribing officers.

The scheme enables eligible users to travel sustainably for exercise, social activities, or appointments, promoting both mental and physical wellbeing.

“I used to really love cycling when I was a teenager, but hadn’t ridden much since having children. I really enjoyed whizzing down the paths - and the electric assist made hills so easy!”
